Christina Cooke is associate editor at the food policy site Civil Eats and a freelance writer who covers people, place, culture, food and agriculture systems, and issues of social and environmental justice for magazines and newspapers. She was awarded a James Beard Media Award for investigative journalism in 2023. Her piece, “Black Earth,” was nominated for a 2025 James Beard Award and selected by celebrated chef and author Bryant Terry to appear in the forthcoming edition of Best American Food and Travel Writing.
